ATLANTA, Ga. (October 30, 2024) - Covenant's senior forward Kade Theunissen and senior defender Parker Rody have been voted the 2024 CCS Offensive Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year, respectively, by the conference's head coaches, announced today by the league office. Belhaven's junior goalkeeper Danny Bahena was voted Goalkeeper of the Year, while Maryville's freshman forward Brady Hammer was named Rookie of the Year. Covenant's Scott Bosgraf earned Coach of the Year honors for the second time in his career.
Offensive Player of the Year | Kade Theunissen, Covenant
Covenant's standout senior forward, Kade Theunissen, has earned back-to-back CCS Offensive Player of the Year honors. Playing in all 16 matches, Theunissen logged 1,049 minutes and led the conference in points (31), while his playmaking abilities placed him second nationally in NCAA Division III with 13 assists. Tied for the conference lead with nine goals, he scored two game-winning goals, including a decisive late-winner against Emory. The Louisiana native's impact was highlighted by four multi-assist games and a CCS Offensive Player of the Week recognition.
Defensive Player of the Year | Parker Rody, Covenant
Covenant's senior defender, Parker Rody, becomes the third player from Covenant to receive CCS Defensive Player of the Year honors. Rody started all 16 matches, amassing a team-leading 1,272 minutes and guiding the Scots' defense to seven shutouts. Under Rody's leadership, Covenant's defense ranked second in the conference with a goals-allowed average of just 0.81.
Goalkeeper of the Year | Danny Bahena, Belhaven
Belhaven's junior goalkeeper, Danny Bahena, earns the CCS Goalkeeper of the Year award, marking the second consecutive year a Blazers player has received this honor. Bahena anchored Belhaven's defense, starting 17 games and posting a stellar 0.66 goals allowed per match. He recorded 46 saves with a save percentage of .807, leading the conference in goals-against average and shutouts with seven.
Rookie of the Year | Brady Hammer, Maryville
Maryville's freshman forward, Brady Hammer, was named CCS Rookie of the Year following a breakout debut season. Hammer led all conference freshmen with five goals and tied for Maryville's team lead in points (13).
Coach of the Year | Scott Bosgraf, Covenant
Covenant's head coach, Scott Bosgraf, earns his second CCS Coach of the Year award after guiding the Scots to an unbeaten 4-0-2 record in conference play, finishing atop the CCS standings for the second consecutive season. Bosgraf's leadership was instrumental in Covenant's overall 11-2-3 record, including a marquee win over then-No. 3 Washington and Lee.
Covenant led with an impressive nine honorees across the both teams. Belhaven followed with six total selections, while Piedmont earned four. Asbury secured three selections, and both Maryville and LaGrange each had two players named to the all-conference teams.
The 2024 CCS Men's Soccer Championship Tournament kicks off today with quarterfinal action as No. 3 Asbury takes on No. 6 Piedmont and No. 4 Maryville faces No. 5 LaGrange. Winners of these matchups will advance to the semifinals on Saturday, November 2, where No. 1 Covenant and No. 2 Belhaven await.
