Blazers Punch Ticket to the CCS Championship with Shutout Win

JACKSON, Miss. - The Belhaven Women's Soccer team is headed back to the Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) Championship for the second consecutive season after earning a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Piedmont in Tuesday's semifinal match at Belhaven Bowl Stadium.

The No. 2 seed Blazers (13-4-3, 6-1-1 CCS) delivered another strong defensive performance and used a second-half goal from Kinsey Carter to advance to the title match, where they will host No. 5 seed Asbury on Saturday, November 8th at 2:00 PM.

After a scoreless first half that featured seven Belhaven shots and multiple near misses, the Blazers finally broke through in the 75th minute. Carter capitalized on a perfectly placed cross from Melanie Echols, netting the eventual game-winner and sending the Blazers to their second straight CCS Championship appearance.

Belhaven maintained control throughout the match, finishing with a 10-3 advantage in total shots and holding a 6-5 edge in corner kicks. Senior goalkeeper Addi Roberts was steady in goal, recording her fourth shutout of the season while making two key saves to preserve the clean sheet.

Defensively, Alyssa Wilson, Reagan Nichols, Lillian Harvey and Jennifer Neal anchored a back line that allowed just two shots on goal. In the midfield, Lauren Snell and Emma Antonoplos dictated possession and created multiple scoring opportunities that tested the Lion defense.

The victory marks Belhaven's seventh shutout in their last eight conference matches and their 13th win of the season, tying the program's highest win total since joining the CCS.

The Blazers will now turn their attention to the CCS Championship, as they look to capture their first CCS title in program history.
