WILMORE, Ky.--- Asbury volleyball (2-3, 0-0) picked up its second consecutive sweep on Tuesday night in its home opener in Wilmore, Ky., defeating Berea College (1-4, 0-0 HCAC), 3-0.
The Eagles used their highest hitting percentage of the young season at .291, tallying 42 kills while holding Berea to 24 on the night. The Eagles had 12 errors out of 103 total attacks.
AU also used the service ace to score four times, in comparison to Berea reaching one ace in the match. AU took the three sets in order with the following scores (25-14, 25-16, 25-15).
Sophomore equine science major Isabelle VandeSchraaf had a game-high 14 kills, followed by Asbury sophomore Megan Schelling with seven and Sidney Haysley at five kills.
Haysley had close to a career night defensively with 15 digs, followed by senior Riley McChord at 12 digs. Lucy Kate Gray led the offense in passing with 18 assists, followed by her sister Sara Beth Gray with eight assists.
The AU offense continued to gain speed throughout the match, attaining 13, 14, and finally 15 kills in each set.
Asbury's crowd was effective as well in the first Luce Center home event of the school year, packing in to see the reigning Collegiate Conference of the South Champions on the newly designed Luce Center court.
"We started with a lot of energy in warmups. The fans were a huge help; it is so much easier to have great energy when the fans cheer us on like they did tonight."

Asbury will now go on their longest break of the season, waiting until September 13 for their next two matches in Sewanee, Tenn., for a doubleheader against the Tigers.
