DECATUR, Ga. -- Covenant women's soccer swamped Agnes Scott with five goals and 26 shots on frame to win, 5-0, at Gellerstedt Field in Decatur on Friday evening.
Lila WIley, Tess Duble, AT Simon (2), and Eve Fuller scored goals for the Scots, while Abbey Heupel and Blythe Jelley had assists. The goal for Fuller was the first of her career, while Wiley notched her fifth, Simon her fifth and sixth, and Duble her second of the campaign.
Covenant (4-4-2, 3-0-1 CCS) got to work on offense right away, as Wiley missed a shot off the crossbar at the 1:50 mark, which began a string of eight shots on net for the Scots. The eighth was converted by Wiley to go up 1-0 at the 16:44 mark.
The Scots kept up their offensive zone pressure, adding three more shots on net in the next 12:08, the last of which Duble converted on Heupel's assist to make it 2-0.
Emma Anderson and Paige McClarnon would add final attempts on net before the half ended, but did not convert either as the 2-0 score remained going into the half.
Simon scored her fifth of the season just 11:01 into the second half, and then added another in the 77th minute to take over the team lead in goals, as Jelley assisted on the second score to make it 4-0.
Finally, with just nine minutes to play, Fuller got her chance and put it home for her first career goal in the 82nd minute.
Grace Topper did the rest in net, as she stopped the lone second-half shot on net from the Scotties (0-10-1, 0-3-0 CCS) in the 85th minute, and then the defense closed it out to win, 5-0.
Olivia Rosario saved 21 shots for Agnes Scott, while Laura Damonte had the two shots on frame.
