Panthers Hang on at Asbury in Men's Basketball Regular Season Finale

WILMORE, Ky. – The LaGrange College men's basketball team won 68-62 at Asbury University in Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) action on Saturday evening at the Luce Center Gym in Wilmore, Kentucky.

Records:             Panthers 14-11, 5-7 CCS | Eagles 6-19, 4-8 CCS

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The first half was controlled primarily by LC, as Kani Rashied-Henry (Tyrone, Ga.) and company dropped 35 on the host Eagles to start their senior day game. The Panthers led by seven at the half.
  • Things got a bit tight in the second half, as LaGrange found themselves having to fight off an Eagles squad that was hot on their tail into the final minutes. Thankfully for the Panthers, they were able to get the stops necessary to hold on for the 68-62 win.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Rashied-Henry led LC with 18 points, in addition to five rebounds. 
  • Junior guard Austen Colton (Sharpsburg, Ga.) wasn't far behind with 16 points as he drained four three's on the day.
  • Asbury freshman forward Lual Ayiei (Juba, South Sudan) scored 12 points in the Eagles' losing effort.
UP NEXT
  • LaGrange is back on the court on Tuesday when they host their quarterfinal matchup of the Collegiate Conference of the South Tournament at home in Mariotti Gym.
