Blazers Golf Finishes Eighth at Cochran Collegiate

CORDOVA, Tenn. - The Belhaven Men's Golf team closed out its final tune-up before the CCS postseason with an eighth-place finish at the Cochran Collegiate, held April 13-14th at Colonial Country Club.

The Blazers posted a three-round total of +91 (33-30-28), with improvement each round against a strong NCAA Division III field.

Belhaven opened the tournament with a +33 team score, led by a pair of solid rounds at the top of the lineup.

Gannon Williams and Andrew Rogers each turned in 78 (+6) to pace the Blazers on day one, keeping the team in the middle of the pack early. John McIntosh followed with an 81 (+9), while Andrew Scherer added an 84 (+12). Levi Turner rounded out the scoring group with an 89 (+17).

Belhaven shaved three strokes off its team score in round two, finishing the day at +30. Andrew Scherer delivered the low round of the day with a 78 (+6), settling in after the opening round and giving the lineup a boost. John McIntosh followed closely with a 79 (+7), while Gannon Williams posted an 80 (+8) to keep Belhaven trending in the right direction. Andrew Rogers added an 81 (+9), and Levi Turner came in at 85 (+13) as the Blazers held position heading into the final round.

Belhaven closed the tournament with its strongest performance, posting a +28 in the final round.

Gannon Williams led the charge with a 77 (+5), finishing as the Blazers' top individual performer and placing 24th overall. Levi Turner followed with a 78 (+6), showing a strong bounce-back to close the event. Andrew Scherer carded an 80 (+8), while Andrew Rogers added an 81 (+9). John McIntosh rounded out the group with a 90 (+18).

Williams led Belhaven with a 54-hole total of +19 (78-80-77) to finish 24th overall. Rogers placed 32nd at +24 (78-81-81), while Scherer finished 40th at +26 (84-78-80). McIntosh came in 53rd at +34 (81-79-90), and Turner finished 56th at +36 (89-85-78).

Rogers also ranked among the top performers on par 4 scoring average (4.23) and tied for a team-high seven birdies during the tournament.

The Blazers have a bit of time off before the CCS Tournament later this month, hosted at Dalton Country Club from Monday, April 27 – Wednesday, April 29
