SEGUIN, Texas- After fighting their way through the loser's bracket to earn a spot in the Seguin Regional Championship, the #2 seeded Hawks of Huntingdon College were defeated 6-1 by the #1 seed and host Bulldogs of Texas Lutheran University.
Kate Dinkel paced the Huntingdon offense with a 3-for-4 day at the plate, including a double, while Maddie Grace Hubbard and Taylor Au each added two hits. Amaya Wommack drove in the Hawks' lone run with an RBI single in the fourth inning that cut the deficit to 3-1.
Huntingdon threatened throughout the afternoon, leaving 10 runners on base, but Texas Lutheran answered immediately after the Hawks scored. The Bulldogs plated three runs in the bottom of the fourth, including a two-run single from Caelee Clark, to extend the lead to 6-1.
In the circle, Addison Gaines provided three scoreless innings of relief and struck out four while allowing no hits over the final three frames, while McKenzie Little took her first loss of the season.
With this loss, the Hawks season has come to a close. In the 2026 season, Huntingdon Softball reached as high as #9 in the nation with a 33-12 record. Led by head coach Casey Chrietzberg, the Hawks saw 4 all-conference selections and 4 all-region selections, with ranked wins coming over #4 St. Mary's, Berry, and Trinity.
