ATLANTA, Ga. (September 6, 2023) –
Joshua Szidik (Berea) was named Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) Men’s Soccer
Offensive Player of the Week, while
Eli Honeycutt (Covenant) earned
Defensive Player of the Week, released by the league office on Wednesday.
Davis Knight (Piedmont) was also tabbed
Rookie of the Week.
OFFENSIVE – Joshua Szidik, Berea
Central Attaching/Defensive Midfielder | Senior | Carbondale, IL
Szidik scored the only/game-winning goal in the Mountaineers' 1-0 win over Brevard Sunday afternoon. He played every minute of both games (180 minutes total) Berea played this week.
DEFENSIVE – Eli Honeycutt, Covenant
Goalkeeper | Sophomore | Chattanooga, Tenn.
Honeycutt helped Covenant secure two draws this weekend against Emory and Oglethorpe with a pair of clean sheets. Against Emory, he made two saves while against Oglethorpe, he made three saves. In total, he faced 13 shots against Emory and 15 against Oglethorpe.
ROOKIE – Davis Knight, Piedmont
Forward/Midfielder | Freshman | LaGrange, Ga.
Knight totaled three goals and an assist for seven points for the Lions last weekend in two wins over Warren Wilson and Mississippi University for Women. He scored the game-winning goal in both games and scored Piedmont's first two goals of the game in 6-3 win over MUW.

ABOUT THE COLLEGIATE CONFERENCE OF THE SOUTH
The CCS is an NCAA Division III athletic conference that began play during the 2022-23 academic year. The conference features nine member institutions (Agnes Scott College, Berea College, Belhaven University, Covenant College, Huntingdon College, LaGrange College, Piedmont University, and Wesleyan College) and sponsors championships across 14 sports. In addition to sharing the member institutions' geographic identity, the name 'Collegiate Conference of the South' is indicative of a shared commitment to academic excellence, which is commensurate with the NCAA Division III philosophy.
