Huntingdon’s Jordan Holman Leads 2024 CCS Softball All-Conference Awards

Montgomery, Ala. (May 1, 2024) - Huntingdon's senior shortstop Jordan Holman leads the charge as the spotlight illuminates on her as the 2024 CCS Player of the Year. Belhaven’s Kennedy Carruth earns the Pitcher of the Year honor and Wesleyan’s Sydnee Mcelveen secures the Rookie Player of the Year title, as voted by the conference’s head coaches. Joining a fellow Hawk, Huntingdon’s Allie Roberts produces a season worthy of the Rookie Pitcher of the Year distinction, while Huntingdon’s head coach Casey Chrietzberg takes home the Coach of the Year accolade, as revealed by the league office. 

Player of the Year |  Jordan Holman, Huntingdon

Jordan Holman of Huntingdon secures the coveted Player of the Year title, showcasing phenomenal hitting abilities at the national and conference stage. Holman leads the CCS in runs batted in RBI (50) and doubles (15) this season. The senior shortstop is among the top-five league leaders in batting average (.437), slugging percentage (.765), hits (52), runs scored (39), home runs (6), and triples (3). She garners national attention as she is ranked within the top-10 in RBIs and is ranked within the top-25 in hits. That national attention continued as she was named to the NFCA Player of the Year watchlist at the beginning of April.   

 

Pitcher of the Year | Kennedy Carruth, Belhaven

Kennedy Carruth of Belhaven wins her fourth consecutive Pitcher of the Year honor while having an astounding earned run average (ERA) of 0.54. In addition to leading the league with her ERA, Carruth also leads both the league and nation in holding her opponents to a .143 batting average, striking out 169 batters. During the regular season, she finished with a 19-1 record on the mound which ranks third in Division III. The graduate student pitcher earned NFCA Division III Pitcher of the Week honors once this season and CCS Pitcher of the Week seven times. Carruth aided her team in scoring as well as she posted a slugging percentage of .667. 

 

Rookie Player of the Year | Sydnee Mcelveen, Wesleyan

Wesleyan’s standout freshman, Sydnee Mcelveen, produced a successful inaugural season in the CCS to win the Rookie Player of the Year accolade. Mcelveen ranks among the top-10 league leaders in batting average (.437), slugging percentage (.609), and on base percentage (.505). She contributed 25 RBI and 15 runs to contribute to the success of the Wesleyan program. Mcelveen consistently produced in the field for her team as she had a fielding percentage of .951. Mcelveen earned the recognition of CCS Rookie of the Week once this season.

 

Rookie Pitcher of the Year | Allie Roberts, Huntingdon

Allie Roberts of Huntingdon produced a freshman campaign that received the recognition of Rookie of the Year. In conference play, Roberts commanded her way to an ERA of 1.32 and held her opponents to a .175 batting average. Roberts produced 15 wins en route to the Hawk squad finishing as co-Regular Season Champions. In that winning production, Roberts rose to strike out 154 batters this season. She also ranks among conference leaders in saves (1) and innings pitched (116.1). Robert’s success allowed her to be named CCS Pitcher of the Week and CCS Rookie of the Week once. 

 

Coach of the Year | Casey Chrietzberg, Huntingdon

Casey Chrietzberg of Huntingdon demonstrated precise leadership and consistency to win this year's Coach of the Year award. Chrietzberg's Hawk squad finished the regular season as co-champions with a conference record of 15-1. In addition to winning the regular season, the Huntingdon Hawks are ranked ninth in the NFCA Division III.

 

Huntingdon leads the pack with nine all-conference selections. Both Maryville and Belhaven have a total of six all-conference selections. To round out selections, Covenant, LaGrange, Piedmont, and Wesleyan have one all-conference selection each.
