Belhaven Wins Sixth Straight in 31-Point Win Over LaGrange

JACKSON - The Belhaven Men's Basketball team opened the CCS slate in impressive fashion on Saturday, taking care of LaGrange by a final of 96-65 in Jackson. With the win, the Blazers are now 11-3 and winners of six consecutive contests.

After the Panthers took a 6-5 lead into the opening media stoppage, the Blazers took control with a 12-0 run to take a 17-6 lead at the 12:36 mark. Jordan Williams' three with 9:12 left gave Belhaven a 24-10 advantage.

Seven straight from LaGrange was immediately answered by three straight threes from Jordan Marshall and Williams to extend the lead to 16 with under five to play in the half. The Blazers continued to stretch the lead to take a 43-22 lead into the locker room.

The momentum stayed in Belhaven's favor in the second half as a putback from Jacob Reese pushed the lead out to 30 at 56-26 with 16 minutes left in the contest. Back-to-back alley oops from Marshall to Jermario Hersey midway through the half highlighted a 53-point second for the Blazers who pushed the lead to as many as 37 before coasting to the 96-65 win.

Belhaven was led by Marshall who finished with 28 points on 12-of-19 from the floor. Williams totaled 19 points on 5-of-6 from three, while Jonathan Lucas recorded a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.

The Blazers will look to continue their hot streak on Saturday when they welcome preseason league favorite Maryville on Saturday. Tipoff is slated for 4:00 PM.
