Belhaven Wins Ninth Straight in 13-Point Victory Over Asbury

WILMORE, Ky. - The Belhaven Men's Basketball team continued their winning ways on Friday with an 87-74 win over Asbury in Collegiate Conference of the South action. The win marks the 9th straight for the Blazers overall and 4th straight to open conference play.

Belhaven jumped out to an early lead on the hosts thanks to solid play on both ends of the floor and led 28-23 at the midway point of the first half. The Blazers continued their performance in the first half, extending their lead out to double-digits at the break with Jermario Hersey leading the way with 16 points in the first half.

Asbury closed the gap early in the second half with an quick run that saw them pull even at 50 less than five minutes into the second half. The Blazers responded though, quickly regaining control and over the next eight minutes, restoring a double-digit advantage.

Belhaven was strong closing out the win and held on for the 87-74 victory to move to 14-3 and 4-0 in CCS play. Jermario Hersey led the Blazers in scoring on the day with 22 points and four rebounds. 

Jordan Marshall chipped in 15 points on 5-11 shooting with seven assists and six rebounds while Jacob Reese recorded another double-double with 14 points and 16 rebounds.

It will be a quick turnaround for the Blazers who will travel to Tennessee tonight for an afternoon matchup against Maryville. Tip off against the Scots is set for 3:00 PM.
