Panthers destroy Eagles of Asbury to pick up first win of 2025

LAGRANGE, Ga. - LC Men's Basketball (5-13, 1-5 Collegiate Conference of the South) dismantled Asbury University (4-12, 0-4 CCS) by a final score of 105-69 Saturday night (Jan. 18) at Historic Mariotti Gymnasium. This was the first time the Panthers scored 100 points in a game since November 11, 2023, when LaGrange bested Millsaps College 100-77. 

Game Summary 
The Panthers jumped early on the Eagles, thanks to great three-point shooting and a stifling defense, granting them a 17-point lead just five minutes into the contest. LaGrange kept their form going, extending the lead to 35-12 with ten minutes left after a Devin Dowell three-pointer. The Panthers held the lead there before extending it once more, this time to 29 to the under four-minute timeout. Micah McAllister finished the first-half scoring barrage with a breakaway layup to put the halftime score 62-28 in favor of LaGrange. 

LC picked up right where they left off, with Brodie Scott scoring seven quick points out of halftime with some great finishes at the rim and incredible rebounding to extend the lead to 40. The lead stayed for the Panthers, with the Eagles chipping it down to 30 points with 11 minutes remaining. Samuel Moss got in on the action, getting buckets in a hurry as he scored 10 points in a five-minute span. LC maintained their dominance as they scored their 100th point on a Catfish Battle jumper with 3:07 remaining. As the final horn blew, the scoreboard showed a mauling by the hands of the Panthers, marking their first win in the calendar year of 2025 as well as their first conference win of the season.
 
Panthers of the Game 
Kameron McCall put together an incredibly efficient output offensively, scoring 22 points in as many minutes. Going 6/7 from behind the three-point line, he also tallied three rebounds and three assists, respectively.

Micah McAllister also had an incredible night, scoring 14 points on only six shots. Tallying three rebounds and two assists, he capped things off with an amazing five steals to pad on to his first campaign as a Panther.

Double-double machine, Brodie Scott, picked up his fifth double-double of the season, scoring 14 points and 14 rebounds to go with it. He also had two assists and two steals in an incredible Panther victory.
