SWANNANOA, N.C. - Covenant took the court for the first time in 2025 with a nonconference tilt at Warren Wilson. After a competitive opening 20 minutes, the Scots dominated the second half to pick up their fifth win of the year.

FIRST HALF:
- Zak Thomas buried Covenant's first triple of the game early on that tied the score at six.
- A 7-0 Warren Wilson run ended by a Pierce Smith dunk saw the Owls lead 13-8.
- Warren Wilson kept pressing on as a triple with 13:46 remaining put it on top 21-10.
- The two teams traded baskets for the next few minutes as Logan Patterson made a layup to put the score at 29-21.
- James White knocked down a 3-pointer to cap off a 7-1 scoring run for Covenant to cut the Warren Wilson lead to four points at 32-28.
- With 5:31 remaining in was Adam Deininger who got a shot to go from downtown for the Scots as they trailed 39-38.
- Covenant scored its next seven points all from the free throw line before a triple by Luuk Dusek tied the game at 48.
- Another 3-pointer by Dusek and a couple of free throws from Patterson saw Covenant lead 53-50 at the intermission.
SECOND HALF:
- The Scots scored seven of the first eight points of the half, but then the Owls knocked down back-to-back 3-pointers to pull back within three points.
- Jake Stephens scored seven straight points for Covenant as it pushed the lead to 69-62.
- Highlighted by six points from Pierce Smith and five points from Russell Hunter, Covenant went on a 17-0 run to go up 86-65.
- Covenant kept knocking down shots from deep as White and Colt Donley each delivered a make to put the score at 96-68.
- White put Covenant over the century mark with 6:29 remaining with another 3-pointer, his third of the day.
- The Scots scored seven of its last 11 points at the free-throw line as it closed out a 113-89 win where it outscored their opponent 60-39 in the second half.
GAME NOTES:
- Covenant moves to 6-4 all-time against Warren Wilson.
- Patterson led Covenant with 15 points with eight of his 15 coming at the line.
- Smith, White, and Duusek each had 11 points. Smith also had nine rebounds while White's 11 points set a new career high.
- Covenant shot 50% (35-70) from the field and 48.3% (14-29) from behind the 3-point line while Warren Wilson was 49.2% (32-65) and 36.7% (11-30) in the same categories.
- Covenant won the rebound battle 41-33.
- 113 points is the most Covenant has scored in a single game since Feb. 9, 2008 when it scored 121 in a victory over Virginia Intermont.
