Blazers Score 103 in 23-Point Win Over Covenant

JACKSON - Jonathan Lucas posted a career-high 31 points to go along with 12 rebounds and six assists to lead Belhaven to a 103-80 win over Covenant on Saturday night. The Blazers have now won 14 consecutive games and are a perfect 9-0 in CCS action.

It was high-flying kind of night inside Rugg Arena as the Green and Gold jumped out to a 14-3 lead behind several alley oops to Lucas and Jermario Hersey. Covenant battled back to draw within four, but Belhaven answered with a 9-0 run midway through the half to take a 36-21 advantage with 5:22 remaining.

The lead remained in double figures throughout the final five minutes as the Blazers took a 47-36 lead into the locker room. After the Scots cut the lead to nine with 15 minutes to go, Belhaven pushed the margin back out to 14 at 62-48 minutes later.

The Blazers controlled the contest the rest of the way, building a 26-point lead in the final minute before finishing off the 103-80 home victory to complete the season sweep over Covenant.

In addition to Lucas's strong night, Jacob Reese added another double-double to his season ledger with 12 points and 17 rebounds. Hersey and Dyllion Redmond added 14 apiece, while Jordan Marshall filled the stat sheet with nine points, nine assists, and seven boards.

Belhaven returns to action on Thursday to host Huntingdon. Tipoff at Rugg is set for 6:00 PM.
