Blazers Win 11th Straight in 61-58 Road Win at LaGrange

LaGRANGE, Ga. - The Belhaven Men's Basketball team held off a late LaGrange rally to take down the Panthers, 61-58, inside Mariotti Gymnasium on Wednesday night. With the win, the Blazers have won 11 straight games and are 6-0 in CCS play.

Despite falling behind early, Belhaven answered with a 9-2 run to take a 14-13 lead into the under-12 media timeout. Baskets from Neal Terry and Jordan Marshall put the Blazers in front by five at 22-17 at the 7:50 mark of the first half.

Belhaven closed the opening 20 minutes with four straight points to take a 30-24 advantage into the locker room. The lead reached eight right out of the half before LaGrange evened things up with an 8-0 run with 16:22 remaining.

A fastbreak score from Jordan Marshall pushed the Blazers' lead back out to seven at 40-33 with 12 minutes to play. The Green and Gold continued to add to the lead as Jonathan Lucas scored from in close to extend it to a dozen, 58-46, with just 3:38 to go.

The hosts were able to score the game's final five points and have a look to tie in the final seconds, but they were off the mark as Belhaven left LaGrange with a 61-58 road win to go to 16-3 and remaining in conference play through six contests.

Marshall paced the Blazers with 20 points, while Lucas recorded a double-double with 12 points and 18 rebounds. Jermario Hersey added 13 points.

Belhaven caps off a four-game roadstand perfect and will return to Rugg Arena on Saturday against Piedmont. Tipoff is set for 4:00 PM.
