JACKSON - The Belhaven Men's Basketball team continued its dominant season with a commanding 95-66 victory over Asbury (7-17, 3-8 CCS) at Charles R. Rugg Arena, improving to 21-3 overall and maintaining an unbeaten 11-0 record in CCS play.
The Blazers stretched an early lead out to 21-10 thanks to a 13-3 run out of the under-16 media timeout. The margin grew to as many as 18 before Belhaven took a 43-30 lead into the halftime break.
The second half proved to be all Green and Gold. After Asbury cut the lead to eight with 16:35 to go, Belhaven outscored the Eagles, 52-31, over the remainder of the contest to cruise to a 16th consecutive victory. It was the sixth game this season that the Blazers have eclipsed 90 points.
Jordan Marshall paced the Blazers offensively with 31 points, while Jordan Williams added 17 points on five made three-pointers off the bench. Jermario Hersey chipped in 11 points in the winning effort.
Prior to tipoff, Belhaven honored seniors Jordan Marshall, Jermario Hersey, Jordan Williams, Jonathan Lucas, Jacob Reese, and Todd Larkin for their remarkable contributions during their time as Blazers.
The stage is set with the CCS on the line heading into next Friday's regular season finale against Maryville. Tipoff between the Blazers and Scots is set for 6:30 PM.
