Week 1: CCS Softball Players of the Week
ATLANTA, Ga. (February 17, 2025)– The Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) has announced its softball weekly honors, released by the league office on Monday.
 
Brecca Williams (Maryville) was named Player of the Week, while Allie Roberts (Huntingdon) earned Pitcher of the Week honors.
 
Addison Gaines (Huntingdon) was also tabbed Rookie of the Week.
 
PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Brecca Williams, Maryville

Brecca Williams started the season strong, going 4-for-7 with a double, a triple, two RBI, and a run scored in Maryville’s doubleheader split against No. 15 Berry. She sparked the Scots' comeback in Game 1 with an RBI triple in the fifth inning and later scored to cut the deficit in half. Williams followed with an RBI single in the sixth before Maryville completed a three-run rally in the seventh.
 
PITCHER OF THE WEEK – Allie Roberts, Huntingdon

Allie Roberts dominated in her sophomore season debut, earning three wins across two starts against Centre and Greensboro. She held Greensboro hitless through the first four innings and finished the weekend with 17 strikeouts over 12.1 innings pitched. Opponents managed just a .146 batting average against her as she posted a stellar 1.14 ERA to lead the Hawks in the opening week.
 
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK – Addison Gaines, Huntingdon

Freshman pitcher Addison Gaines impressed in her collegiate debut, leading Huntingdon to a win over Centre. After allowing two early runs, she settled in and took control, retiring the side in four at-bats in the second inning. Gaines finished her first career start with eight strikeouts while allowing just five hits and two runs, showcasing her poise on the mound.

ABOUT THE COLLEGIATE CONFERENCE OF THE SOUTH (CCS)
The CCS is an NCAA Division III athletic conference that began play during the 2022-23 academic year. The conference features nine member institutions (Agnes Scott College, Asbury University, Belhaven University, Covenant College, Huntingdon College, LaGrange College, Maryville College, Piedmont University, and Wesleyan College) and sponsors championships across 14 sports. In addition to sharing the member institutions' geographic identity, the name 'Collegiate Conference of the South' is indicative of a shared commitment to academic excellence, which is commensurate with the NCAA Division III philosophy.
