Player of the Week, while
Katherine Nova (Asbury) earned this week’s Women’s Tennis
Rookie of the Week, released by the league office on Tuesday.
The duo,
Lilly Brown and
Taji Williams (Huntingdon) was named
Women’s Doubles Team of the Week.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Alyssa McSpadden, Piedmont
Senior | Flowery Branch, Ga.
Alyssa McSpadden dominated at No. 1 singles for Piedmont, posting a perfect 3-0 record while also securing a doubles victory to help the Lions to a 3-0 week. In singles play, she earned three commanding wins over opponents from Truett McConnell, Methodist, and Meredith. McSpadden also teamed up for a 6-4 win at No. 1 doubles with Bri Laidman against Truett McConnell.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK – Katherine Nova, Asbury
Freshman | Lexington, Ky.
Freshman Katherine Nova made an immediate impact for Asbury, going 2-0 at No. 1 singles with wins over Greenville and Ohio Northern. She also partnered with junior Ariadna Zegarra for a No. 1 doubles victory against Greenville.
DOUBLES TEAM OF THE WEEK – Lilly Brown/Taji Williams, Huntingdon
Junior/Senior | Guntersville, Ala./ Pensacola, Fla.
Huntingdon’s No. 1 doubles duo of Lilly Brown and Taji Williams started the season strong, earning a perfect 2-0 record in their opening matches. They secured a hard-fought 6-4 win over Brevard before dominating MUW with a 6-0 victory.

The CCS is an NCAA Division III athletic conference that began play during the 2022-23 academic year. The conference features nine member institutions (Agnes Scott College, Asbury University, Belhaven University, Covenant College, Huntingdon College, LaGrange College, Maryville College, Piedmont University, and Wesleyan College) and sponsors championships across 14 sports. In addition to sharing the member institutions' geographic identity, the name 'Collegiate Conference of the South' is indicative of a shared commitment to academic excellence, which is commensurate with the NCAA Division III philosophy.
