Week 10: CCS Women’s Tennis Players of the Week
ATLANTA, Ga. (April 22, 2025) - Taji Williams (Huntingdon) was Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) Women’s Tennis Player of the Week, while Karla Wiley (LaGrange) earned this week’s Women’s Tennis Rookie of the Week, released by the league office on Tuesday.
 
The duo, Zoe Giuntoli and Lauren Carr (Covenant) was named Women’s Doubles Team of the Week.
 

PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Taji Williams, Huntingdon
Senior  |  Pensacola, Fla.
 
Taji Williams led the way for Huntingdon in a dominant 7-0 conference victory over Belhaven. Competing at the top of the lineup, the senior collected a decisive 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 1 singles. Williams also teamed up with Lilly Brown for a commanding 6-0 victory at No. 1 doubles, helping the Hawks sweep all matches on the day.
 
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK – Karla Wiley, LaGrange

Karla Wiley extended her win streak at No. 1 singles to six matches this week, continuing an impressive stretch for the freshman. Wiley secured victories over Johnson & Wales and Coastal Alabama, building on the momentum from the previous week, where she notched wins against Agnes Scott, Piedmont, and Belhaven’s top singles players.
 
DOUBLES TEAM OF THE WEEK – Zoe Giuntoli & Lauren Carr, Covenant
Sophomore/Senior | Tumwater, Wash./ Lubbock, Tx.
 
The Covenant duo of Lauren Carr and Zoe Giuntoli went a perfect 2-0 at the No. 1 doubles position this week. The pair blanked both of their opponents, earning 6-0 wins over Belhaven and Agnes Scott to set the tone for back-to-back team victories.

ABOUT THE COLLEGIATE CONFERENCE OF THE SOUTH (CCS)
The CCS is an NCAA Division III athletic conference that began play during the 2022-23 academic year. The conference features nine member institutions (Agnes Scott College, Asbury University, Belhaven University, Covenant College, Huntingdon College, LaGrange College, Maryville College, Piedmont University, and Wesleyan College) and sponsors championships across 14 sports. In addition to sharing the member institutions' geographic identity, the name 'Collegiate Conference of the South' is indicative of a shared commitment to academic excellence, which is commensurate with the NCAA Division III philosophy.
