ATLANTA, Ga. (September 16, 2025) –
Tyson Absher (Asbury) was named Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) Men’s Soccer
Offensive Player of the Week, while teammate,
Crosby Short (Asbury) earned
Defensive Player of the Week, released by the league office on Tuesday.
Jonathan Case (Maryville) was also tabbed
Rookie of the Week.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Tyson Absher, Asbury
Forward | Freshman | Somerset, Ky.
Asbury freshman forward Tyson Absher had a breakout week, scoring five goals across three matches to power the Eagles’ attack. Absher recorded a hat trick in a win over Ohio Christian before adding two more goals in a victory against Franklin, bringing his season total to six goals in just five collegiate appearances. He finished the week with 12 shots, including eight on target, and tallied two game-winners.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Crosby Short, Asbury
Goalkeeper | Senior | Huntington, WV
Asbury senior goalkeeper Crosby Short anchored the Eagles’ back line with a pair of shutouts last week. Short faced 22 shots and recorded six saves across three matches, holding opponents scoreless to post a perfect 1.000 save percentage and help Asbury to a 3-0 record.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK – Jonathan Case, Maryville
Midfielder | Freshman | Gallatin, Tenn
Maryville freshman midfielder Jonathan Case provided an offensive spark for the Scots, scoring twice in three matches last week. Case was efficient with his opportunities, converting two of his three shots on goal, and added an unassisted goal.

ABOUT THE COLLEGIATE CONFERENCE OF THE SOUTH (CCS)
The CCS is an NCAA Division III athletic conference that began play during the 2022-23 academic year. The conference features nine member institutions (Agnes Scott College, Asbury University, Belhaven University, Covenant College, Huntingdon College, LaGrange College, Maryville College, Piedmont University, and Wesleyan College) and sponsors championships across 14 sports. In addition to sharing the member institutions' geographic identity, the name 'Collegiate Conference of the South' is indicative of a shared commitment to academic excellence, which is commensurate with the NCAA Division III philosophy.
