CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - Covenant hosted the third annual Mountainside Stride to begin its 2025 season. Both teams had a successful day running the 6k as the women's team finished in first place with the men's team posting a second-place result. The women's win is their first since 2021.
The women's team finished with 31 points, defeating second-place Sewanee by 27 points. The men's team had 43 points, missing a first-place result by just four points.
WOMEN'S RESULTS:
- Emerson Tillery anchored the Scots, placing second with a time of 23:52.1. She was four seconds away from winning the meet.
- Kenzi Stapleton (6th, 25:13.6), Lucie Demers (7th, 25:20.7), and Sarah Olson (8th, 25:21.3) were key performers for Covenant as they all finished inside the top eight.
- Maggie McGinley started her senior year with a 14th-place finish, posting a time of 26:30.8.
- Aida Okie secured a 19th-place result in the first race of her career, finishing with a time of 27:14.1.
- Claire Mellott (26th, 28:06.09), Leah Russ (31st, 28:38.5), and Arielle Eklund (37th, 31:24.3) rounded out the Covenant lineup.
MEN'S RESULTS:
- Ethan Saiki led a group of three Covenant runners inside the top five, posting a time of 19:58.1 to earn a second-place result.
- Trey Mortensen (4th, 20:07.0) and Jack Miller (5th, 20:11.0) were the other Covenant runners inside the top five, both of whom were running in their first college meets.
- Alex Burns (14th, 20:46.1), Jack Dupree (18th, 21:02.4), and Daniel Bowles (19th, 21:04.2) all finished inside the top-20 for Covenant.
- Covenant had four more runners finish inside the top 30: Samuel Harrelson (21st, 21:10.9), Chandler Lines (23rd, 21:19.8), Aidan DeVries (26th, 21:23.0), and Trey Faulk (28th, 21:25.1)
