WILMORE, Ky.--- The Asbury women's soccer team (1-0-1, 0-0 CCS) defeated National Christian College Athletics Association (NCCCA) opponent Ohio Christian University (0-2, 0-0 NCCAA) on Saturday afternoon in Wilmore, Ky., 5-0.
Asbury's offense was led by junior psychology major Emily Carpenter, opening the scoring in the 10th minute off an assist from senior Mary Hostetter, giving AU a quick 1-0 lead. Senior captain Hannah Muncie scored in the 34th minute before assisting junior Anna Sparks four minutes later to extend the lead to 3-0 at halftime.
The Eagles' offense continued to progress in the second half, AU freshman exercise science major Gabriella Albornoz scoring her first collegiate goal in the 75th minute from outside the box, 4-0. Muncie added her second of the match just two minutes later, assisted by freshman exercise science major Riley Bussell, to close out the 5-0 win. Muncie now has 18 career goals as an Asbury Eagle.
Asbury's junior goalkeeper Sheridan Harrison earned the clean sheet in goal for her second consecutive day. AU now has two shutouts on their record to start the 2025 season.
There was only one card in the match, a yellow given to OCU Andrea Vasquez in the 68th minute.
