Records: Panthers 14-7, 10-2 CCS | Eagles 10-10, 8-3 CCS
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The highly touted matchup between the two teams certainly lived up to the billing in the first quarter, as each squad traded shots early. The Panthers would enjoy a 19-15 lead at the end of one.
- The second quarter saw much of the same, with Asbury refusing to let the Red and Black garner any sort of momentum. Still, LC would lead 35-29 at the half.
- A scoring frenzy ensued in the third quarter as LaGrange did all they could to fend off the Eagles who were hot on their tail. The all-out war between the conference's top units would continue as the Panthers clung desperately to a 61-57 lead with one quarter left to play.
- The fourth quarter saw six lead changes as each team battled for the title of top dog in the CCS. LaGrange senior guard Laila Battle (Smyrna, Ga.) would ensure that her team came out on top as she netted the necessary buckets to clinch the win and put LC at 10-2 in conference play.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Battle finished with a career-high 35 points, in addition to six rebounds and a pair of blocks.
