Hawks Take Midweek Matchup Over MUW

MONTGOMERY, Ala.- Kicking off their four-game home stretch at Neal Posey Field this afternoon, Huntingdon Baseball improved to 21-11 on the season, downing the Owls of the Mississippi University for Women 12-6 in their final non-conference test of the regular season.

After MUW struck first on a solo home run in the opening inning, Huntingdon quickly answered and took control with a four-run second inning highlighted by a two-run single from Mikael Bryant and an RBI double by Drew Jolley. The Hawks kept the pressure on, adding single runs in the third and then breaking the game open with a four-run fourth inning to build a 9-2 lead.

Dalton Ash paced the offense with two hits and two RBIs, while Bryant finished with three hits and a game-high three RBIs. Jabez Sampson and Jay Davidson also had big days at the plate with three hits each, and Blayne McDaniel and Jolley chipped in multi-hit efforts.

On the mound, Charlie Morgan gave Huntingdon a solid start, allowing two runs over four innings with five strikeouts. Landon Hawkins earned the win in relief, helping stabilize things as MUW tried to chip away late.

MUW scored in each of the final three innings, but the deficit proved too large as Huntingdon's early offensive outburst carried it to the win.
