DALTON, Ga. - Piedmont men's golf continues to reign atop the Collegiate Conference of the South, capturing its third consecutive conference championship with a brilliant performance in Tuesday's final round on a rain soaked Dalton Country Club.

In a tournament that had to be adjusted due to weather concerns, the start of the final round was delayed by around two hours.

Entering the day leading No. 1 Huntingdon by a single shot, the Lions played a rock solid round across the board, besting the Hawks by nine strokes on the day to take the crown for the third straight season. The win locks up Piedmont's second consecutive NCAA National Tournament appearance and fourth in the last five years.

Both youth and experience helped the Lions take the trophy on Tuesday, as they were led by freshman Braden Kiley, who fired a 2-under par 70, highlighted by an eagle at the par-5 10th, helping turn the momentum toward Piedmont as the back nine was getting underway.

As a group, the Lions played their best when it mattered most. Of the four players who saw their scores count in the final round, not a single bogey was made over the final six holes.

After playing a major role in last season's CCS Championship winning team, senior Remo Scholl entered the starting lineup for the first time all spring and proved up to the task, carding a career-best round of 1-under 71, making 17 pars and a birdie in an incredibly steady round from start to finish.

Junior Jacob DeJesus joined Kiley in a tie for third on the individual leaderboard, improving by one in each round with a final round of 1-over 73. DeJesus made 16 pars on his round, but closed with an exclamation mark, making a birdie at the last to end in style.

Senior Adam Rogers has been a member of all three CCS Championship winning lineups, and delivered the team's final counting score with a 3-over 75, playing his final 12 holes bogey free and 1-under par.

Although Doug Gugel's 8-over 80 did not count, his strong play on Monday put the team in position to win the tournament, and Gugel himself finished strong with a birdie at the last.

Up next, the Lions will rest for a few weeks before teeing it up at the NCAA DIII Championship, set to begin May 12 at the Mission Inn Resort in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida.
