WILMORE, Ky. — Asbury women's track and field junior social work and adventure education and leadership major Bailey Gassmann earned National Champion honors on Friday in Wilmore, Ky., at the National Christian College Athletics Association (NCCAA) Outdoor Track and Field National Championships. The Eagles' men's team finished 10th overall out of 22 teams while the women took 13th of 20 teams.

Gassmann also made program history in the 1500 meters, becoming the first-ever Asbury outdoor track & field national champion with her victory in the event. She previously claimed the 2025
indoor national title in the mile run.
Manny Dut continued his historic season with a second-place finish in the 400 meters, crossing the line in 48.49 seconds to break his own school record by one-hundredth of a second. In a cruel twist, Dut also missed the national title by one-hundredth of a second, meaning he would have needed to lower his personal best by two-hundredths to claim first place.
The men's 4x400-meter relay team of Drew Beedle, Jacob Graston, Coleman Anderson, and Manny Dut also etched their names into the record books, finishing in 3:23.07 to break the previous school record of 3:23.72 that was set at last year's CCS Championships. Dut closed the relay with a phenomenal 47.4-second anchor leg.
Recent graduate Cameron McElroy delivered a memorable finish to his collegiate career in the javelin, recording a throw of 50.53 meters (165' 9") on his final attempt to break the school record of 50.14 meters. McElroy earned a seventh-place finish at the national championship meet.
On the women's side, the 4x800-meter relay team of sophomore Adyson Mattingly, freshman Ellie Kershner, senior Brooke O'Carroll, and junior Bailey Gassmann earned All-American honors with a third-place finish. Their time of 9:57.76 shattered the previous school record by more than 15 seconds.

"We had several outstanding accomplishments in the meet. It was great for Brooke to earn All-American status in her final meet representing Asbury. She has not only been a dominate force on the track the last few years, but also a role model and spiritual leader on the team. It was fun to see Cam bust a big throw on his final attempt in the meet. He has worked hard despite many injuries and really studied the mechanics of throwing the Javelin. It all came together on that last throw. Bailey was dominant in her 1500 race, recording the second fastest time of her life. Perhaps even better was her 2:19 anchor leg in the 4x800 relay. It was her fastest split ever and held onto the bronze medal for her and her teammates. The final race of the day was a thing of beauty. We had three good relay legs before Manny got the baton, but he was in eighth place (last) when he received it. He closed the gap on the pack down the backstretch and then sprinted from 8th to 4th in the homestretch, clearly moving faster than anyone else on the track. When he gets moving on a relay it's like watching a thoroughbred racing for home. I've been watching track meets for many, many years, and I was in awe of that finish. It was a great way to close out the meet and the season."
