Duffin Wins Bruins Golf Classic

GREENVILLE, S.C. - Covenant traveled to the Bruins Golf Classic at Cobb Glen Golf Club for the second tournament of its fall season. Kenny Duffin had a historic showing for the Scots, by winning the individual title, their first since 2018. Up against seven schools, Covenant finished third as a team. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Duffin started his tournament with a 1-over par round of 73, which saw him one shot back of the leader going into the final round. In the final round, Duffin made three birdies en route to an even par 72. Duffin made par on each of the final seven holes to finish 1-over par for the tournament and win by three shots over second place. 

  • Andrew Barber finished inside the top 10 with a solo ninth-place result. Barber opened with 79 before closing with 77 and a 36-hole total of 12-over par. With the 77 in the final round, Barber jumped four spots on the leaderboard. The ninth-place finish is the best of his career.

  • In his first tournament of his sophomore season, Tristan Mayhand shot 15-over par and finished tied for 15th. His second round of 78 was a three-stroke improvement from his first round. 

  • Drew Silman finished 21st with a score of 17-over par. After opening with 83, Silman came back the next day and fired a 78 with three birdies. 

  • Maddox Cantrell finished 25th in his first college tournament. The Greensboro, Georgia native shot 83 and 86 for a total score of 25-over par. 

  • Bo Luff competed as an individual, finishing tied for 28th with a score of 31-over par. 


UP NEXT: Covenant will travel to The Country Club in Morristown, Tenn. for the Walters State Fall Classic Oct. 9-10.
