Week 4: CCS Men’s Basketball Players of the Week
ATLANTA, Ga. (December 2, 2024) – The Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) has announced its Men’s Basketball Players of the Week.
 
BJ Brown (Huntingdon) was named Player of the Week, while Kyle Cloninger (Maryville) earned Rookie of the Week, released by the league office on Monday.
 
PLAYER OF THE WEEK – BJ Brown, Huntingdon
Guard  |  Sophomore  |  Birmingham, Ala.
 
BJ Brown delivered a standout performance in Huntingdon's exhibition victory over Division II Shorter University, scoring a career-high 34 points. Brown played 32 minutes and was incredibly efficient, shooting 72% from the field.
 
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK– Kyle Cloninger, Maryville
Guard  |  Freshman  |  Morristown, Tenn.
 
Freshman guard Kyle Cloninger had a solid performance in Maryville’s lone game of the week, scoring 11 points and grabbing seven rebounds in an 87-82 road loss to Berea. Cloninger shot 3-of-8 from beyond the arc and added one assist and one steal, while committing just one turnover in 32 minutes of action.

ABOUT THE COLLEGIATE CONFERENCE OF THE SOUTH (CCS)
The CCS is an NCAA Division III athletic conference that began play during the 2022-23 academic year. The conference features nine member institutions (Agnes Scott College, Asbury University, Belhaven University, Covenant College, Huntingdon College, LaGrange College, Maryville College, Piedmont University, and Wesleyan College) and sponsors championships across 14 sports. In addition to sharing the member institutions' geographic identity, the name 'Collegiate Conference of the South' is indicative of a shared commitment to academic excellence, which is commensurate with the NCAA Division III philosophy.
