ATLANTA, Ga. (February 20, 2024)– The Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) has announced its softball weekly honors, released by the league office on Tuesday.
Ellie Jones (Belhaven) was named
Player of the Week, while teammate,
Kennedy Carruth (Belhaven) earned
Pitcher of the Week honors.
Kaylee Wilson (Piedmont) was also tabbed
Rookie of the Week.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Ellie Jones, Belhaven
First Base | Junior | Nesbit, Miss.
Jones led Blazers in 4-0 week going 6-of-10 at the plate with three doubles, four RBI, three walks and two runs scored. The junior slugged .900 and had OBP of .692. She was errorless in 30 put out chances at first base, and tallied one defensive assist and was a part of two double plays.
PITCHER OF THE WEEK – Kennedy Carruth, Belhaven
Pitcher | Graduate Student | St. Francisville, La.
Carruth went 2-0 in two starts with one complete game. The graduate student pitcher threw 13.0 innings, allowed zero runs, four hits, one walk and struck out 16. She has recorded an ERA of 0.00 and opponent batting average of .103.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK – Kaylee Wilson, Piedmont

Wilson helped the Lions to a 2-2 week going 6-of-9 at the plate over the weekend. The freshman utility player finished with two RBI, three runs, one strikeout, and was 4-for-4 on stolen bases.

ABOUT THE COLLEGIATE CONFERENCE OF THE SOUTH
The CCS is an NCAA Division III athletic conference that began play during the 2022-23 academic year. The conference features nine member institutions (Agnes Scott College, Berea College, Belhaven University, Covenant College, Huntingdon College, LaGrange College, Maryville College, Piedmont University, and Wesleyan College) and sponsors championships across 14 sports. In addition to sharing the member institutions' geographic identity, the name 'Collegiate Conference of the South' is indicative of a shared commitment to academic excellence, which is commensurate with the NCAA Division III philosophy.
