Week 2: CCS Men’s Track and Field Athletes of the Week

ATLANTA, Ga. (March 12, 2024) – The Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) has announced its men’s track and field weekly honors, released by the league office on Tuesday.
 
Woody Anthony (Huntingdon) was named this week’s Men’s Track Athlete of the Week, alongside Caden Howard (Huntingdon) who collected this week’s Men’s Field Athlete of the Week honor.
 
Rory Gilroy (Huntingdon) was also tabbed Track Rookie of the Week and Carter Hardin (Huntingdon) earned Field Rookie of the Week.
 

TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK – Woody Anthony, Huntingdon

Junior  |  Birmingham, Ala.

Anthony earned the best finish for the Hawks in the 800 meter run with a time of  2:10.23. The junior also anchored the 4x400m team to a top 15 finish.

 

FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK – Caden Howard, Huntingdon

Sophomore  |  Navarre, Fla.

Howard took fourth place in the high jump (1.85 m) and 13th place in the long jump (5.90 m). The Florida native ranks first in the region for the high jump. 

 

TRACK ROOKIE OF THE WEEK – Rory Gilroy, Huntingdon

Freshman  |  Pace, Fla.

Gilroy secured a ninth place finish in the 110 meter hurdles (16.31) at the Clark Atlanta University Panther Track and Field Classic. The freshman also was a member of the 4x100 meter team that was ninth place.

 

FIELD ROOKIE OF THE WEEK – Carter Hardin, Huntingdon

Freshman  |  Wetumpka, Ala.

Hardin concluded the Clark Atlanta University Panther Track and Field Classic with two personal records (High Jump, 1.85 m - 4th place; Long Jump- 5.90 m - 13th place).

ABOUT THE COLLEGIATE CONFERENCE OF THE SOUTH
The CCS is an NCAA Division III athletic conference that began play during the 2022-23 academic year. The conference features nine member institutions (Agnes Scott College, Berea College, Belhaven University, Covenant College, Huntingdon College, LaGrange College, Maryville College, Piedmont University, and Wesleyan College) and sponsors championships across 14 sports. In addition to sharing the member institutions' geographic identity, the name 'Collegiate Conference of the South' is indicative of a shared commitment to academic excellence, which is commensurate with the NCAA Division III philosophy.
