Week 2: CCS Women’s Soccer Players of the Week

ATLANTA, Ga. (September 10, 2024) – Sierra Lee (Maryville) was named Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, while Maliya Crump (Asbury) earned Defensive Player of the Week, released by the league office on Tuesday.
 
Alison Witkiewicz (Piedmont) was also tabbed Rookie of the Week.
 

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Sierra Lee, Maryville

Senior forward Sierra Lee delivered a key performance for Maryville, scoring two crucial goals to lead the Scots to a 1-1-0 record this week. Lee's offensive firepower was on full display during the Covenant Women’s Soccer Classic, where she capped off a commanding 4-1 victory over Bob Jones with a second-half goal, helping secure Maryville's first win of the season.
 
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Maliya Crump, Asbury

Crump was a wall for Asbury this week, recording two shutouts for Asbury. Crump's quick reflexes in goal have been pivotal, as the senior goalkeeper made three key saves and has yet to allow a goal this season, leading the Eagles to a 2-0-1 record to start the year.
 
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK – Alison Witkiewicz, Piedmont

Freshman midfielder Alison Witkiewicz made an immediate impact for Piedmont as she netted her first career goal in the Lions' dominant 6-0 home win over MUW.

ABOUT THE COLLEGIATE CONFERENCE OF THE SOUTH (CCS)
The CCS is an NCAA Division III athletic conference that began play during the 2022-23 academic year. The conference features nine member institutions (Agnes Scott College, Asbury University, Belhaven University, Covenant College, Huntingdon College, LaGrange College, Maryville College, Piedmont University, and Wesleyan College) and sponsors championships across 14 sports. In addition to sharing the member institutions' geographic identity, the name 'Collegiate Conference of the South' is indicative of a shared commitment to academic excellence, which is commensurate with the NCAA Division III philosophy.
