ATLANTA, Ga. (February 24, 2025) – The Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) has announced its baseball weekly honors, released by the league office on Monday.
Ashton Whiteaker (Maryville) was named
Player of the Week, while
Jacob McFarling (Huntingdon) earned
Pitcher of the Week honors.
Josiah Chiesa (Covenant) was also tabbed
Rookie of the Week.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Ashton Whiteaker, Maryville

Senior catcher Ashton Whiteaker had a standout week at the plate and behind the dish, helping Maryville to a perfect 4-0 record. Whiteaker batted .417 (5-for-12) with seven runs scored, four RBI, two doubles, and a walk-off three-run home run in Game 3 against Oberlin to secure the series sweep. Defensively, he recorded 20 putouts without an error, anchoring the Scots’ success from behind the plate.
PITCHER OF THE WEEK – Jacob McFarling, Huntingdon

Jacob McFarling turned in a dominant performance on the mound, leading Huntingdon to an 8-1 victory over Wheaton College. The junior right-hander tossed eight strong innings, allowing just one hit while striking out nine batters. The impressive outing moved him to 2-1 on the season.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK – Josiah Chiesa, LaGrange

Freshman Josiah Chiesa delivered a masterful performance in Game 1 against No. 3 Endicott to earn his second collegiate win. In six innings of work, Chiesa faced 24 batters and did not allow a single hit.

ABOUT THE COLLEGIATE CONFERENCE OF THE SOUTH (CCS)
The CCS is an NCAA Division III athletic conference that began play during the 2022-23 academic year. The conference features nine member institutions (Agnes Scott College, Asbury University, Belhaven University, Covenant College, Huntingdon College, LaGrange College, Maryville College, Piedmont University, and Wesleyan College) and sponsors championships across 14 sports. In addition to sharing the member institutions' geographic identity, the name 'Collegiate Conference of the South' is indicative of a shared commitment to academic excellence, which is commensurate with the NCAA Division III philosophy.
