Ison Helps Lead Eagles to Weekend Split With Manchester

STORY - THE ESSENTIALS
WILMORE, Ky.---
 Asbury softball (3-1, 0-0 CCS) welcomed Manchester University (1-1, 0-0 HCAC) on Saturday afternoon for their 2025 home opener, splitting the day with the Spartans by dropping game one 5-2 and winning game two 10-2.

Game 1 | MU - 5 AU - 2:
* Manchester scored the first two runs of the game, taking each a run in the second and fourth to get out ahead to a 2-0 lead.
* An Emily Zink double in the fourth and Emma Popplewell double in the fifth scored Natalie Ison and Kaitlyn Wilson to knot things at two apiece.
* Manchester struck back in the top of the seventh with a two RBI double one RBI fielder's choice to take a 5-2 lead into the bottom half.
* Asbury got a runner on off of a Abigail Moffat walk, but to no avail as AU could not get any runs across and surrendering a 5-2 loss.
* Josie Deatherage was on the mound for AU throwing all seven innings surrendering nine hits and five runs, while striking out two.

Game 2 | AU - 10 MU - 2
* The Spartans scored the first two runs of the game, one run in each the first and second innings to take a 2-0 early lead.
* Danielle Oldfield singled in Samantha Bottom and Azlynn Day in the second to knot the game at two apiece.
* Daegan Flamm, Emily Zink, and Moira Tinsley each recorded an RBI in the third, helping break the AU lead to 5-2.
* Samantha Bottom, Abigail Moffat, Danielle Oldfield, Natalie Ison, and Daegan Flamm each recorded RBI base hits to close out game two with a 10-2 victory.
* Sidney Hansen went the distance for the Eagles pitching five innings giving up just two runs on three hits, while striking out two Spartan hitters.
