CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (April 24, 2025) – Asbury’s Ariadna Zegarra was named CCS ?Women's Tennis Player of the Year, while her teammate Katherine Nova captured Rookie of the Year accolades. Piedmont ?women's head coach Trey Martin was recognized as the CCS Coach of the Year for the third consecutive season after an undefeated run through conference play.
Player of the Year | Ariadna Zegarra, Asbury
A force at the top of the lineup, Zegarra delivered a flawless season for the Eagles. The junior standout posted an undefeated 12-0 singles record, including 4-0 in conference play at the No. 2 position, despite missing two matches due to injury. In doubles, she notched an impressive 8-2 mark, earning three CCS Player of the Week honors.
Rookie of the Year | Katherine Nova, Asbury
Nova made an unforgettable debut in her freshman campaign, turning heads across the league with a perfect 14-0 singles record—all wins coming in straight sets, setting a new school record at Asbury. She was a perfect 7-0 in CCS action at the No. 1 singles spot and added an 11-3 doubles record to round out her rookie season. The Kentucky native was honored as CCS Rookie of the Week four times, helping lead Asbury to a runner-up finish in the regular season standings.
Coach of the Year | Trey Martin, Piedmont
In his seventh season at the helm, Coach Trey Martin has secured his third consecutive Coach of the Year award. Under Martin’s leadership, he guided Piedmont to a dominant 20-2 overall record and a perfect 7-0 mark in CCS play, clinching the CCS Regular Season Championship and the No. 1 seed in this year’s tournament.
Asbury and Piedmont led the way with four selections each on this year’s All-Conference Team, followed by Huntingdon and Maryville with two apiece. Covenant rounded out the list with one player recognized.
The 2025 CCS Women’s Tennis Championship begins today with quarterfinal matchups as No. 3 Huntingdon takes on No. 6 Agnes Scott and No. 4 Maryville faces No. 5 Covenant. The winners of these matches will advance to the semifinals on Friday, where top-seeded Piedmont and No. 2 Asbury awaits. Chattanooga Champions Club will be the host with the championship match scheduled for Saturday, April 26, when this season’s CCS champion will be crowned.
