Week 3: CCS Women’s Soccer Players of the Week

ATLANTA, Ga. (September 16, 2025) – Damaris Gaines (Agnes Scott) was named Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, while teammate, Piper Martinsen (Agnes Scott) earned Defensive Player of the Week, released by the league office on Tuesday.
 
Gabby Worthy (LaGrange) was also tabbed Rookie of the Week.
 
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Damaris Gaines, Agnes Scott

Agnes Scott graduate forward Damaris Gaines continued to pace the Scotties' attack with a game-winning strike in a 2-1 victory over Regent. Gaines recorded six shots, with four on target, and broke the deadlock just over a minute into the second half. She now has four goals on the season, tying her for the conference lead.
 
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Piper Martinsen, Agnes Scott

Agnes Scott junior defender Piper Martinsen made an immediate impact in the Scotties’ win over Regent, scoring just nine seconds after kickoff to set a new program record for the fastest goal in school history. Beyond her early heroics, Martinsen anchored the back line with several key defensive stops to help preserve the 2-1 result.
 
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK – Gabby Worthy, LaGrange

LaGrange freshman forward Gabby Worthy netted her first career goal in the Panthers’ 2-0 win at Centenary. Worthy now leads LaGrange with four points on the year, giving the Panthers a promising young presence in their attack.

ABOUT THE COLLEGIATE CONFERENCE OF THE SOUTH (CCS)

The CCS is an NCAA Division III athletic conference that began play during the 2022-23 academic year. The conference features nine member institutions (Agnes Scott College, Asbury University, Belhaven University, Covenant College, Huntingdon College, LaGrange College, Maryville College, Piedmont University, and Wesleyan College) and sponsors championships across 14 sports. In addition to sharing the member institutions' geographic identity, the name 'Collegiate Conference of the South' is indicative of a shared commitment to academic excellence, which is commensurate with the NCAA Division III philosophy.
