ATLANTA, Ga. (September 23, 2025) –
Delroy Mattis (Piedmont) was named Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) Men’s Soccer
Offensive Player of the Week, while
Danny Bahena (Belhaven) earned
Defensive Player of the Week, released by the league office on Tuesday.
Tyson Absher (Asbury) was also tabbed
Rookie of the Week.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Delroy Mattis, Piedmont
Midfielder | Senior | Valdosta, Ga.
Piedmont senior midfielder Delroy Mattis provided the Lions with a pair of clutch performances, scoring three goals across two matches. Mattis tallied both goals in a 2-1 win over Toccoa Falls, including the late game-winner, before adding the deciding goal against Warren Wilson in a contest that was resumed and later called due to inclement weather after the 70-minute mark.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Danny Bahena, Belhaven
Goalkeeper | Senior | Houston, Texas
Belhaven senior goalkeeper Danny Bahena anchored the Blazers’ back line in a 1-0-1 week. Bahena made four saves in a shutout victory over Lyon, including three from inside eight yards, and played all 180 minutes across the two matches while conceding just one goal.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK – Tyson Absher, Asbury

Asbury freshman forward Tyson Absher continued his strong start to the season with two goals in a win over IU East. Absher finished the week with eight shots, including three on target, and now leads the CCS with eight total goals this season.

ABOUT THE COLLEGIATE CONFERENCE OF THE SOUTH (CCS)
The CCS is an NCAA Division III athletic conference that began play during the 2022-23 academic year. The conference features nine member institutions (Agnes Scott College, Asbury University, Belhaven University, Covenant College, Huntingdon College, LaGrange College, Maryville College, Piedmont University, and Wesleyan College) and sponsors championships across 14 sports. In addition to sharing the member institutions' geographic identity, the name 'Collegiate Conference of the South' is indicative of a shared commitment to academic excellence, which is commensurate with the NCAA Division III philosophy.
