Duke Sparks Men’s Soccer Past Toccoa Falls

LAGRANGE, Ga. – The LaGrange College men's soccer team won 5-1 against visiting Toccoa Falls College in non-conference action on Tuesday evening at Panther Field in LaGrange, Georgia.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Panthers took a 1-0 lead into halftime before a goal by Toccoa Falls' Kody Garcia in the 67th minute pulled the Screaming Eagles to within one at 2-1. But the hosts would answer with three unanswered goals within a five-minute stretch to put the game away with LaGrange senior forward Lucas Duke (Dexter, Ga.) tallying two of those as LC claimed their first win of the season.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Duke finished with two goals and an assist while sophomore forward Damien Fekete (Columbus, Ga.) added two goals.
  • LaGrange sophomore goalkeeper Howie Turner (Peachtree City, Ga.) and freshman goalkeeper Braeden Hayes (St. Augustine, Fla.) combined for four saves in a near-shutout. Toccoa Falls goalkeeper Brandon Huerta had five saves for the Eagles.
  • LaGrange junior defender Dylan DePriest (Newnan, Ga.) scored his second career goal in the 48th minute to put the Panthers up 2-0.
