2024-25 CCS Women's Basketball Championship Recap
Piedmont captured the 2024 CCS Women’s Basketball Championship on its home floor at Cave Arena, overcoming a slow start to pull away from Belhaven for a 64–51 victory. Despite shooting just 25.4 percent from the field, the Lions relied on stifling defense that limited the Blazers to 27.7 percent shooting and a relentless attack at the free-throw line, where Piedmont attempted a season-high 40 free throws and converted 31. The win marked Piedmont’s first women’s basketball tournament title in the CCS and secured an automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament. Belhaven, the No. 3 seed, capped a historic postseason run by reaching the championship game for the second straight year after defeating Huntingdon in the quarterfinals and rallying past No. 2 seed Asbury in the semifinals, ultimately finishing the season with a program-best 12 CCS wins and its highest regular-season finish at third place.
