Women’s Basketball Pulls Away from Hawks, 68-49

LAGRANGE, Ga. – The LaGrange College women's basketball team continued their Interstate-85 rivalry against visiting Huntingdon College in Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) action on Tuesday evening at the Mariotti Gymnasium in LaGrange, Georgia, coming away with a 68-49 victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • After a slow start, the Panthers took a 28-20 lead into halftime led by freshman guard Mya Anderson (Jones County, Ga.) who had eight points. LaGrange opened the third quarter with a 10-3 and would soon pull away.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • LaGrange senior guard Laila Battle (Smyrna, Ga.) led the Panthers with 21 points, shooting 50 percent from the floor and from behind the arc. Last week's CCS Player of the Week also pulled down five rebounds with two blocks and two assists.
  • Anderson posted 13 points with four boards, two blocks and one steal.
  • LaGrange freshman guard Adazhah Burrell (Melbourne, Fla.) posted seven points while matching a career-high ten rebounds.
  • Huntingdon senior guard Makayla Ford (Huntsville, Ala.) led the Hawks with 14 points and five rebounds. Junior guard Kiya Crayton (Birmingham, Ala.) had a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds.
