Week 2: CCS Women’s Tennis Players of the Week

ATLANTA, Ga. (February 17, 2026) - Katherine Nova (Asbury) was Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) Women’s Tennis Player of the Week, while Michaela Krajcovicova (LaGrange) earned this week’s Women’s Tennis Rookie of the Week, released by the league office on Tuesday.
 
The duo Katherine Nova and Alexandra Garcia (Asbury) were named Women’s Doubles Team of the Week.
 
PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Katherine Nova, Asbury

Katherine Nova opened her sophomore campaign with a perfect week at the top of Asbury’s lineup, going 2–0 at the No. 1 singles position. The reigning CCS Rookie of the Year carried momentum into the new season, delivering a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Otterbein on Friday before rallying for a three-set win against Ohio Northern on Saturday. After dropping the opening set, she responded with a 6-1 second set and secured the match in a 10–5 tiebreak to complete the comeback. Nova also contributed to doubles play, picking up wins from the No. 1 spot during the week.
 
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK – Michaela Krajcovicova, LaGrange
Freshman  |  Bratislava, Slovakia
 
Freshman Michaela Krajcovicova turned in a competitive performance in singles action for LaGrange, earning a hard-fought three-set victory. She edged Griffin 7-5 in the opening set before regrouping to claim the match in a 10-5 match tiebreak.
 
DOUBLES TEAM OF THE WEEK – Katherine Nova/ Alexandra Garcia, Asbury
Sophomore/ Freshman   | Lexington, Ky./Point Saint Lucie, Fla.
 
The Asbury duo of Katherine Nova and Alexandra Garcia delivered a strong performance at the No. 1 doubles position, securing a 6–3 victory against Otterbein. Their win provided early momentum for the Eagles to secure a 5-2 road victory at Otterbein.

The CCS is an NCAA Division III athletic conference that began play during the 2022-23 academic year. The conference features nine member institutions (Agnes Scott College, Asbury University, Belhaven University, Covenant College, Huntingdon College, LaGrange College, Maryville College, Piedmont University, and Wesleyan College) and sponsors championships across 14 sports. In addition to sharing the member institutions' geographic identity, the name 'Collegiate Conference of the South' is indicative of a shared commitment to academic excellence, which is commensurate with the NCAA Division III philosophy.
