Week 2: CCS Men’s Track and Field Athletes of the Week

ATLANTA, Ga. (March 17, 2026) – The Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) has announced its men’s track and field weekly honors, released by the league office on Tuesday.
 
Rory Gilroy (Huntingdon) was named this week’s Men’s Track Athlete of the Week, alongside Joshua Panetta (Maryville) who collected this week’s Men’s Field Athlete of the Week honor.
 
Adyn Elliott (Maryville) was also tabbed Men’s Track Rookie of the Week and Jackson Lakeman (Maryville) earned Men’s Field Rookie of the Week.
 

TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK – Rory Gilroy, Huntingdon
Junior  |  Pace, Fla.
 
Rory Gilroy delivered a standout performance at the Falcon Classic, competing against a field that included Division I and II opponents. The junior captured first place in the 110m hurdles with a time of 15.03 seconds and followed with a third-place finish in the 400m hurdles at 54.94 seconds. Gilroy also anchored Huntingdon’s 4x400m relay team to a fifth-place finish (3:35.35). His performances this weekend place him third nationally in both hurdle events.
 
FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK – Joshua Panetta, Maryville
Senior  |  Memphis, Tenn.
 
Joshua Panetta led the field in the hammer throw at the Cumberlands Early Spring Meet, earning a first-place finish with a mark of 43.01 meters. He currently ranks second in the conference in hammer.
 
TRACK ROOKIE OF THE WEEK – Adyn Elliott, Maryville
Freshman  |  Pleasant Shade, Tenn
 
Adyn Elliott continued to make an immediate impact in his freshman campaign, setting a new school record in the 1500m with a time of 4:16.05 at the Cumberlands Early Spring Meet. Elliott placed seventh in the event and currently holds the second-fastest time in the conference this season.
 

FIELD ROOKIE OF THE WEEK – Jackson Lakeman, Maryville
Freshman  |  Lebanon, Tenn.
 
Jackson Lakeman turned in a strong performance in the pole vault, finishing third at the Cumberlands Early Spring Meet with a clearance of 3.85 meters. His mark currently leads the conference.

ABOUT THE COLLEGIATE CONFERENCE OF THE SOUTH (CCS)
The CCS is an NCAA Division III athletic conference that began play during the 2022-23 academic year. The conference features nine member institutions (Agnes Scott College, Asbury University, Belhaven University, Covenant College, Huntingdon College, LaGrange College, Maryville College, Piedmont University, and Wesleyan College) and sponsors championships across 14 sports. In addition to sharing the member institutions' geographic identity, the name 'Collegiate Conference of the South' is indicative of a shared commitment to academic excellence, which is commensurate with the NCAA Division III philosophy.
