Men's Tennis Caps off Trip with 7-0 Win; Women Fall to North Carolina Wesleyan

STORY - THE ESSENTIALS

HILTON HEAD, SC. ---  Asbury men's (7-5, 3-0 CCS) and women's tennis (7-5, 4-0 CCS) took the court for their last matches of their annual Spring Break trip on Thursday, the men defeated Ripon 7-0 while the women fell to North Carolina Wesleyan, 5-2

MEN'S NOTES

The Eagles set the tone early, cruising through doubles play without dropping a single game. The No. 1 duo of Alejo Britos and Antonio Nunez led the way with a 6-0 victory, while Paolo Cargnelutti and Victor Pereira matched that score at No. 2.

Kevin Rhyne and Ben Moore completed the doubles sweep with another 6-0 win at No. 3, securing the opening point decisively.

Asbury carried that momentum into singles, where the Eagles continued their dominance across the lineup. Ben Moore earned a 6-3, 6-0 win at No. 1, while Ignacio Murillo controlled his match at No. 2 with a 6-1, 6-1 victory. Antonio Nunez was flawless at No. 3, not dropping a game in a 6-0, 6-0 win.

Paolo Cargnelutti followed with a strong 6-1, 6-0 decision at No. 4, and Victor Pereira mirrored that at No. 5 with a 6-0, 6-0 victory.

Kevin Rhyne capped off the sweep at No. 6, winning 6-1, 6-0 to secure the 7-0 result.

WOMEN'S NOTES
The Battling Bishops claimed the early advantage by sweeping all three doubles matches. The No. 1 duo of Alexandra Garcia and Katherine Nova fell 6-3, while Malory Watkins and Ariadna Zegarra were edged in a tight 7-6, 7-4 contest at No. 2.

At No. 3, MaryAlice McVey and Isabella Sanchez dropped a 6-0 decision.

In singles play, the Eagles found success in two flights. Katherine Nova picked up a win at No. 1 after her opponent retired early in the match, giving Asbury its first point of the day. Malory Watkins added another victory at No. 4 with a strong 6-4, 7-5 performance.

Elsewhere, Alexandra Garcia battled in a competitive match at No. 3 but came up short in straight sets. Ariadna Zegarra dropped a hard-fought three-set contest at No. 2, while Isabella Sanchez (No. 5) and Cara Clark (No. 6) were unable to secure points for the Eagles.
