Senior Day Sweep!

MARYVILLE, Tenn. – In doubleheader action at Scotland Yard on Senior Day, the Scots showcased their baseball prowess against Huntingdon, securing a 9–8 victory in the first game followed by a decisive 12–2 win in the second.

Game One
The Scots took charge early, racing to a five-run lead across the first two innings. Though Huntingdon rallied to level the score in the fifth, Maryville's eighth-inning push secured the win. The decisive move came in the eighth inning, ignited by Irvin Hernandez drawing a walk and Masin Hall taking a hit-by-pitch. This set the stage for Brayden Evans and Colin Dunworth, each delivering clutch RBI singles that nudged Maryville back in front.

Det Dettwiller's two-RBI single and Frank Derner's groundout, aided by an error, brought the Scots back on level terms. Despite being outhit 17 to 13, the Scots overcame a fifth-inning deficit. Kaden Wimsatt and Logan Denton combined on the mound, with Denton claiming his third win of the season. Gavin Mohrman closed out the game, notching the save.

Highlights
Masin Hall had an outstanding day, scoring four times and racking up three hits, including two doubles, while also delivering five assists. Det Dettwiller's bat was hot with three hits and three RBIs. Brayden Evans added two hits, a double, an RBI, and two walks, while Colin Dunworth chipped in with three hits, an RBI, and a stolen base.

Game Two
The Scots put on a show in the second game, overpowering Huntingdon with a commanding 12-2 victory. The Scots' bats were on fire, notching up 19 hits and scoring in each of the first five innings, highlighted by a five-run explosion in the fifth. Meanwhile, the defense held firm, keeping Huntingdon scoreless until the seventh inning and limiting them to just two runs on 10 hits.

Maryville set the pace early, building a solid lead thanks to that fifth inning. Luke Winter opened with a leadoff double, setting the stage for Irvin Hernandez's RBI single. Brayden Evans kept the momentum rolling with another RBI single, followed by Det Dettwiller's single to center. Frank Derner wrapped up the inning with a two-RBI single, putting the game firmly in the Scots' control.

Huntingdon's two-run attempt in the seventh was too little, too late, as Maryville's early dominance left no doubt about the outcome. The Scots' flawless defense and solid pitching sealed the deal.

Highlights
Titus Torbett delivered a commanding performance on the mound, pitching six innings and allowing just two earned runs on 10 hits, while striking out three and issuing no walks. He threw 65 strikes out of 86 pitches, showcasing exceptional control. Xavier Resto came in for relief, pitching a spotless inning without allowing a hit or run. Brayden Evans was a standout, recording three hits, three runs, and two RBIs. Irvin Hernandez added three hits, driving in two runs and scoring twice. Det Dettwiller chipped in with three hits, including a double, two RBIs, and two stolen bases. Frank Derner's three hits and four RBIs provided a boost to the Scots' offense as well.

Next up, the Scots will take on Sewanee this Tuesday, April 7, at 3 p.m. in Sewanee, Tenn to cap off the season series with the Tigers.
