#10 Softball Sweeps LaGrange At Home

MONTGOMERY, Ala.- Building off of the momentum generated in their weekend sweep at Covenant, #10 Huntingdon Softball returned to action at Cannon Field, sweeping the Panthers of LaGrange College in a double-header with scores of 4-0 and 7-1, improving to 25-6(9-3) on the year.

Game One

The Hawks set the tone behind a dominant outing from Allie Roberts, who fired a one-hit shutout with eight strikeouts over seven innings.

Huntingdon got on the board in the second inning with a solo home run from Amaya Wommack. The lead grew in the third as Maddie Grace Hubbard came around to score on a Kylie Stephens RBI double.

The Hawks continued to add on in the middle innings, with Payton Gilchrist delivering RBI singles in both the fourth and sixth innings to extend the lead to 4-0. Huntingdon tallied nine hits in the opener, with Gilchrist driving in two and Wommack, Stephens, and others contributing to a balanced offensive effort.

Game Two

Huntingdon carried its momentum into the second game, breaking things open with a three-run third inning. An RBI single from Kylie Stephens got things started, followed by a run-scoring groundout from Kate Dinkel and an RBI knock from Riley Rudick.

The Hawks added insurance in the sixth, plating four runs highlighted by RBI hits from Kinley Hutto and Maddie Grace Hubbard, along with aggressive baserunning that helped push the lead to 7-0.

Maddie Grace Hubbard led the offense with a perfect 3-for-3 day, scoring twice, driving in a run, and swiping two bases. Rudick added two hits and an RBI, while Stephens, Dinkel, and Hutto each drove in runs as Huntingdon finished with 11 hits.

In the circle, Addison Gaines was steady, allowing just one run on four hits over seven innings to earn the win.
