Asbury, Covenant, and Piedmont Lead CCS Women’s Tennis Postseason Honors

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (April 23, 2026) – With the postseason underway, the Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) has announced its 2026 Women’s Tennis postseason award winners, as voted on by the head coaches across the league. Asbury’s Katherine Nova earned Player of the Year honors following a standout sophomore campaign, while Covenant’s Maisie Tanchanpongs was named Rookie of the Year. Piedmont head coach Trey Martin was selected as Coach of the Year for the fourth consecutive year after leading the Lions to another undefeated run through conference play.

Player of the Year | Katherine Nova, Asbury
After earning Rookie of the Year honors a season ago, Nova becomes just the second player in program history to be named CCS Player of the Year. Katherine Nova established herself as one of the conference’s premier players this season, earning CCS Player of the Year honors after a dominant run at the top of Asbury’s lineup. Competing exclusively at the No. 1 position, Nova posted a 15-2 overall singles record, including a perfect 7-0 mark in conference play. In doubles, Nova added a 9-5 overall record, contributing to Asbury’s success in both singles and doubles competition.

Rookie of the Year | Maisie Tanchanpongs, Covenant
Maisie Tanchanpongs made an immediate impact in her first collegiate season, earning Rookie of the Year honors after anchoring Covenant’s lineup at the No. 1 position. She is the second Scot that has achieved this honor. The freshman compiled an impressive 14-4 overall singles record, all at the top spot, while going 5-1 in conference play. In doubles, she recorded a 10-8 mark, primarily competing at No. 1, and added a 4-2 record in conference action. Tanchanpongs’ strong all-around performance earned her two CCS Rookie of the Week honors, along with two Doubles Team of the Week selections. She becomes just the second player in Covenant program history to receive Rookie of the Year honors.

Coach of the Year | Trey Martin, Piedmont
Head Coach Trey Martin guided Piedmont to another dominant season, earning his fourth CCS Coach of the Year honor after leading the Lions to an 18-6 overall record and a perfect 7-0 mark in conference play. The Lions secured the No. 1 seed in the CCS Championship after extending their streak to eight consecutive undefeated conference seasons, including four straight within the CCS. Under Martin’s leadership, Piedmont enters postseason play in pursuit of its fourth conference tournament title in the past five seasons.

The 2026 CCS Women’s Tennis Championship begins Thursday, April 23, with quarterfinal matchups featuring No. 3 Maryville against No. 6 Agnes Scott and No. 4 Covenant taking on No. 5 Huntingdon. The winners will advance to Friday’s semifinals, where top-seeded Piedmont and No. 2 Asbury await.
