Week 3: CCS Women’s Soccer Players of the Week

ATLANTA, Ga. (September 19, 2023) – Aria Solano (Piedmont) was named Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, while Lucy Sandhoff (Covenant) earned Defensive Player of the Week, released by the league office on Tuesday.
 
Jocelyn Lopez (Piedmont) was also tabbed Rookie of the Week.
 
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Aria Solano, Piedmont

Solano Scored a goal and added an assist in Piedmont's 3-0 win over Toccoa Falls on Tuesday. The senior forward assisted on the team's second goal and scored the team's third and final goal.
 
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Lucy Sandhoff, Covenant

In two games this week, Lucy Sandhoff kept two clean sheets for the Scots. In a 0-0 draw at home to Sewanee, Sandhoff had a season-high nine saves. On Saturday, Covenant won its CCS opener 1-0 at LaGrange where Sandhoff had four saves.
 
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK – Jocelyn Lopez, Piedmont

Lopez scored first career goal in Piedmont's 3-0 win at Toccoa Falls Tuesday.

ABOUT THE COLLEGIATE CONFERENCE OF THE SOUTH
The CCS is an NCAA Division III athletic conference that began play during the 2022-23 academic year. The conference features nine member institutions (Agnes Scott College, Berea College, Belhaven University, Covenant College, Huntingdon College, LaGrange College, Piedmont University, and Wesleyan College) and sponsors championships across 14 sports. In addition to sharing the member institutions' geographic identity, the name 'Collegiate Conference of the South' is indicative of a shared commitment to academic excellence, which is commensurate with the NCAA Division III philosophy.
