Week 5: CCS Men’s Basketball Players of the Week
ATLANTA, Ga. (December 9, 2024) – The Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) has announced its Men’s Basketball Players of the Week.
 
Chase Morgan (Maryville) was named Player of the Week, while Luuk Dusek (Covenant) earned Rookie of the Week, released by the league office on Monday.
 
PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Chase Morgan, Maryville

Chase Morgan powered Maryville to a 2-0 week on the road with back-to-back double-doubles, his first two of the season. Morgan averaged 23 points, 11 rebounds, and four blocked shots over the two victories. He posted 22 points, 11 rebounds, and a career-high six blocks in a 75-60 win over Washington & Lee. Two nights later, Morgan tallied 24 points, 11 rebounds, and two blocks in a 79-68 victory at Warren Wilson. The junior is on pace for new career highs this season, averaging 17.7 points, 7.1 rebounds, and a career-best 20 total blocks through 10 games.
 
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK– Luuk Dusek, Covenant

Freshman guard Luuk Dusek played a key role in Covenant’s 3-0 week, averaging 10 points while hitting six three-pointers. Dusek also contributed six rebounds and three steals across the three games. His standout performance came against Toccoa Falls, where he scored 12 points on 4-of-5 shooting, helping the Scots maintain their winning momentum.

The CCS is an NCAA Division III athletic conference that began play during the 2022-23 academic year. The conference features nine member institutions (Agnes Scott College, Asbury University, Belhaven University, Covenant College, Huntingdon College, LaGrange College, Maryville College, Piedmont University, and Wesleyan College) and sponsors championships across 14 sports. In addition to sharing the member institutions' geographic identity, the name 'Collegiate Conference of the South' is indicative of a shared commitment to academic excellence, which is commensurate with the NCAA Division III philosophy.
