ATLANTA, Ga. (February 27, 2024) – The Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) has announced its softball weekly honors, released by the league office on Tuesday.
 
Madi Miller (Belhaven) was named Player of the Week, while Regan Hutto (Agnes Scott) earned Pitcher of the Week honors.
 
Kayla Ocanas (Wesleyan) was also tabbed Rookie of the Week.
 
PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Madi Miller, Belhaven

Miller went 8-for-13 across four games in a 4-0 weekend for the Blazers. The junior center fielder had hits in all four games with a triple against Hope, an inside the park home run against Carroll, four RBI, and 6 runs scored. She was errorless across four starts in center field.
 
PITCHER OF THE WEEK – Regan Hutto, Agnes Scott

Hutto led the Scotties to a 2-1 weekend. Regan demonstrated her prowess on the mound by pitching a full seven innings and striking out an impressive 10 batters, splitting the doubleheader with Clark Atlanta. In the matchup against Sewanee, Regan pitched 8.1 innings and notched nine strikeouts and a .864 ERA. Additionally, she held the batters to a .237 batting average against her pitches over the weekend.
 
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK – Kayla Ocanas, Wesleyan

Ocanas collected two wins in the circle tossing 18 innings and allowing only 11 runs on 18 hits while striking out 14 batters. The Florida native went 10-for-18 (.556) with a double, 3RBI, five runs scored and two stolen bases and didn't strike out all week.

ABOUT THE COLLEGIATE CONFERENCE OF THE SOUTH
The CCS is an NCAA Division III athletic conference that began play during the 2022-23 academic year. The conference features nine member institutions (Agnes Scott College, Berea College, Belhaven University, Covenant College, Huntingdon College, LaGrange College, Maryville College, Piedmont University, and Wesleyan College) and sponsors championships across 14 sports. In addition to sharing the member institutions' geographic identity, the name 'Collegiate Conference of the South' is indicative of a shared commitment to academic excellence, which is commensurate with the NCAA Division III philosophy.
