JACKSON, Miss. --- Asbury volleyball (9-6, 5-0 CCS) moved to 5-0 in conference play after sweeping both its Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) weekend matches at Belhaven University in Jackson, Miss., beating Belhaven (7-11, 2-3 CCS), 3-0, and then Agnes Scott (0-8, 0-5), 3-0.
The Eagles have now won their last seven matches, including four 3-0 sweeps. AU is the only remaining undefeated team in the CCS, ranked No. 1 in the standings above eight other teams.
Asbury sophomore equine science major Isabelle VandeSchraaf had 15 kills in 28 attempts for a .536 hitting percentage on the day. Senior Sidney Haysley and sophomore Sophie Glushchak also had double-digit kills on the day, Haysley with 12 and Glushchak with 11 kills.
AU had 61 total kills in the two matches, with 11 blocks and 22 aces.
Match One | ASBURY 3, BELHAVEN 0
Asbury won all of the first three sets over Belhaven, 25-19, 25-15, and 25-20. Freshman Aliah Jones had a career-high five blocks in the match.
The AU defense had 39 digs and eight total blocks defensively. Belhaven had three more kills than AU, but five more errors as well.
Match Two | ASBURY 3, AGNES SCOTT 0
The Eagles won three sets over Agnes Scott, 25-6, 25-11, and 25-4. Junior McKenna Rumage had a career-high seven service aces, alongside three kills and two blocks.
