Week 4: CCS Women’s Cross Country Runners of the Week

ATLANTA, Ga. (September 29, 2025) – Bailey Gassman (Asbury) was named Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week, while Lucie Demers (Covenant) earned Rookie of the Week, released by the league office on Monday.
 
RUNNER OF THE WEEK – Bailey Gassman, Asbury

Asbury junior Bailey Gassmann turned in a strong performance at the Spoon Fiercely Faithful Meet, placing fourth overall with a 6K time of 24:14.79. Gassmann trailed only three NCAA Division I runners from Eastern Kentucky University in the 46-competitor field.
 
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK – Lucie Demers, Covenant
Freshman  |  Rogers, Ark.
 
Covenant freshman Lucie Demers paced the Scots at the Twilight at John Hunt, finishing seventh overall with a 5K time of 19:43.30. It marked her first race as Covenant’s top finisher, leading a pack of three Scots inside the top 10 as the team earned third place in the 16-team field.

ABOUT THE COLLEGIATE CONFERENCE OF THE SOUTH (CCS)

The CCS is an NCAA Division III athletic conference that began play during the 2022-23 academic year. The conference features nine member institutions (Agnes Scott College, Asbury University, Belhaven University, Covenant College, Huntingdon College, LaGrange College, Maryville College, Piedmont University, and Wesleyan College) and sponsors championships across 14 sports. In addition to sharing the member institutions' geographic identity, the name 'Collegiate Conference of the South' is indicative of a shared commitment to academic excellence, which is commensurate with the NCAA Division III philosophy.
